Alienware is a veteran in gaming systems, and that's reflected in its R3 version of the Alienware 15. A solid, substantial design packed with midrange components and accented with an ample array of accent lights and backlight zones, it's basically a tank covered with Christmas lights.

Quality product, rugged constuction, but heavy

By: on 3 February 2023
If you are looking for a lightweight notebook, don't get one of these. Weight wasn't an issue for me, and I am pleased with what I bought. Needing a portable Windows 11 computer, I was pleased to see that the Dell Alienware 15 R3 was available. Many of my previous notebooks have been too cheaply constructed, and developed problems with the screen hinge. I knew the Alienware brand had a reputation of ruggedness through discussions with friends. When the unit arrived, I was surprised how heavy it is - it is certainly the heaviest notebook that I have owned. However, for my purposes (mostly staying in one location), the weight is not an issue. This computer has a large number of premium features. It has easily accessible RAM and SSD / NVMe slots and is easy to upgrade. The keyboard has lighting that can be controlled through software (brightness / colour), and has a set of programmable keys additional to the conventional keyboard. It has a wide range of connectors for external devices, with many being on the rear of the unit. Everything about its look and feel tells you that it is well designed and solidly constructed. It certainly is not a unit that everyone will want but, it is ideal for my current requirements.
