Important Update — 14 October 2025

Microsoft has officially ended support for Windows 10 as of today. That means no more security updates, feature updates, or official technical support. We strongly recommend upgrading to a supported system—see your options below. As always, our refurbished Windows 11-compatible machines are ready for you.

As of 14 October 2025, Microsoft has officially ended support for Windows 10, meaning no further security patches, bug fixes, or technical assistance will be provided. While your existing Windows 10 computer may continue to function for now, it becomes increasingly risky to use it over time. In this post, we’ll walk you through your options and help you make a safe, smooth transition.

Windows 10 support has ended

What “End of Support” Means

  • No more security updates or fixes — attackers won’t be blocked from exploiting newly discovered vulnerabilities.

  • No feature or quality updates — the OS will be perpetually frozen in the state it was at end-of-support.

  • No official technical support — Microsoft no longer provides help for bugs or issues with Windows 10.

  • Increased risk — using an unsupported OS makes your system more prone to malware, unpatched vulnerabilities, compatibility issues with newer software, and more.

  • Apps and services may begin to fail — over time, vendors may drop support (compatibility) for Windows 10.

  • Impacts Microsoft 365 & Office support — apps may still run, but support and reliability are no longer guaranteed.

In short: continuing on Windows 10 is like driving a car with no future safety recalls—possible, but risky.

Option What it involves Pros Cons / Risks
Upgrade your existing PC to Windows 11 If your device meets Microsoft’s hardware requirements, you can install Windows 11 (many Windows 10 PCs qualify). Keeps your current hardware and possibly saves cost. Some older hardware won’t qualify; potential performance or driver compatibility issues.
Enroll in Extended Security Updates (ESU) A limited extension program that provides critical security updates for Windows 10 after end-of-support. Buys extra time to plan your transition. Temporary stopgap, may incur cost, and only available for a limited duration.
Switch to a supported OS / alternate platform If upgrade isn’t possible, consider Linux or another supported OS. Continue using older hardware. App compatibility gaps, learning curve, and possible driver limitations.
Buy a new or refurbished Windows 11–capable machine Choose hardware already compatible with Windows 11 and transfer your data. Clean, secure, future-proof setup with best long-term support. Up-front cost; requires data migration.
Note: A Windows 10 PC will still run after end-of-support, but it won’t receive security or feature updates. Using it long-term is risky.

How to Check if Your PC Can Upgrade to Windows 11

Before making any decisions, check your machine’s specifications:

  1. Visit Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates – Windows may notify you of eligibility. Microsoft Support

  2. Use Microsoft’s PC Health Check or “WhyNotWin11” tool to validate hardware requirements (TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, CPU list, RAM, etc.)

  3. Review your drivers (especially for GPU, Wi-Fi, audio) to see if Windows 11 versions exist

  4. Backup your data before attempting any OS upgrade

If everything lines up, an in-place upgrade is often the easiest route.

Migrating Your Data & Setup

When you move to a new PC or install a new OS:

  • Use Windows Backup / OneDrive to sync your files, settings, and preferences

  • Export browser bookmarks, email settings, etc.

  • Reinstall licensed software (check licenses)

  • Use external drives or network share to transfer large files

  • Double-check peripherals (printers, scanners, etc.) for driver compatibility
