Important:
  • Standard warranty is 12 months Return to Base (RTB) unless stated otherwise.
  • Optional warranty extension to a total of 24 months is available on select laptops/desktops for $95.
  • Warranty covers hardware faults under normal use. It does not cover software issues, accidental/physical damage, data recovery, or misuse.

What is the warranty period for your products?

All of our products come with a 12-month Return to Base warranty unless stated otherwise. The warranty period begins from the date of purchase. We also offer an option to extend the warranty period on select laptops and desktop computers to a total of 24 months for $95.

What does the warranty cover?

Our 12-month Return to Base warranty covers hardware defects that arise under normal usage conditions. If you encounter a hardware issue during this period, return the device to us and we’ll repair or replace it at no additional cost. The warranty does not cover software issues, accidental/physical damage, user data, or problems resulting from misuse or improper handling.

How can I make a warranty claim?

If you purchased from our website, please submit a Return Authorisation (RA) ticket.

For items purchased from our East Brisbane retail store, you’re welcome to return the product to the store for assessment.

For purchases made on online marketplaces (Amazon, Catch, Dick Smith, eBay, Kogan, MyDeal, OzSale, Reebelo, TradeMe), please open an enquiry via the relevant support page:

Warranty Exceptions

The following are not covered under warranty:

  • Physical damage
  • Accidental damage
  • Software issues
  • Data recovery

Refund and Return Policy

All products sold by Australian Computer Traders are second-hand and refurbished unless otherwise specified.

Our warranty covers items that are not functional due to a specific hardware fault. This applies to components including fans, hard drives, keyboards, touchpads, LCD panels, hinges, and USB ports, unless specifically excluded. Consumables such as laptop batteries or printer toners are not covered under warranty. Batteries are used unless specified otherwise and are provided with a minimum of 1-hour guarantee. Malfunctions caused by software issues (e.g., viruses or operating system errors) are not covered under warranty.

Under the Trade Practices Act 1974 you may seek a refund if goods:

  • Are or become faulty through no fault of your own
  • Are not fit for a stated purpose or a purpose you made known to our sales staff
  • Don’t match our description or sample

RA Warranty Return Policy

AUSTRALIAN COMPUTER TRADERS requires a Return Authorisation (RA) number for all returns. You may initiate a return and request your RA number by completing the Warranty Form.

  • RA numbers are valid for 30 days and cannot be extended.
  • Once issued, you’ll receive an email explaining the return process. The RA number must be displayed on the outside of all packages (each box in multi-box returns).
  • Unauthorised or unmarked returns may be refused or returned at the customer’s expense.
  • Pack the item and accessories securely (preferably in the original box). Use ample protective material. Items damaged in transit may invalidate the warranty and RA.

Warranty Returns

Items under warranty can be returned for a Warranty Claim. Our warranty is Return-to-Base, meaning you are responsible for returning items covered by warranty to our Brisbane office at your expense, using any carrier you choose.

Please choose a tracked shipping method and consider transit insurance for the value of your original purchase. Australian Computer Traders is not liable for any losses incurred while posting items back.

Upon completion of your Warranty Claim, we will contact you regarding return of the item and/or offer a refund/credit. Return shipping costs apply.

Change of Mind Policy

We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If you’ve changed your mind, we’re here to help. Please review the following:

  • 30-Day Return Window: 30 days from delivery to decide if an item is right for you (excludes product defects/incorrect items, which are handled under warranty).
  • Return Postage: Customer-paid for change-of-mind returns.
  • Item Condition: Items must be returned in original condition with packaging and included accessories. Excess wear/damage may reduce the refund amount.

DOA or Functional Returns

Dead-on-Arrival or functional issue? Contact us for an RA. Items covered by this policy may be eligible for free return shipping.

  • We’ll first attempt troubleshooting; many issues can be resolved quickly.
  • If warranty service is required, we’ll issue an RA and a link to print a pre-paid return label (where eligible).
  • We cannot accept returns without an RA number.

We’re committed to supporting high-quality products. If your product develops a fault after the warranty period, please contact our East Brisbane retail support team for in-store repairs. We’ll do our best to assist with a suitable resolution.
